The Iowa Hawkeyes have been flying under the radar this season as they’re currently 5-1 and ranked No. 19 in the country. This weekend, they will look to push their win streak to three as they host the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday.

Speaking of Maryland, the Terrapins are 4-2 and are about to enter a tough stretch in their Big Ten schedule. After facing Iowa, they will still have games against Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State, all of them currently ranked.

This will be only the third all-time meeting between Maryland and Iowa, as they have not played each other since 2015. Maryland has an explosive offense, and that should be concerning for Iowa. However, the Hawkeyes have one of the better defenses in the country, and that is a primary key in this game.

Iowa has to be aware of Maryland’s big-play potential, and the Hawkeye defenders need to play assignment football. They can’t try to over pursue or make big plays when they’re not there. Meanwhile, Darnell Savage Jr., who has posted four interceptions this season, will need to be a significant contributor if the Terrapins are going to have success against Stanley and the Iowa offense.

Maryland will need to throw the football against Iowa, and that could be a problem, since that isn’t the Terrapins’ strong suit.  Iowa is playing too well over the last two games, with the defense doing a phenomenal job against the run and Stanley red hot at the moment. The Hawkeyes will get up early, and the Terps won’t be able to get back in the game. The Maryland D won’t force enough big mistakes to pull off the road win.

Oklahoma and TCU were the class of the Big 12 last season and met in the conference’s first title game since realignment in 2010, but both have some work to do over the next month in order to make it happen again in 2018. A pair of conference heavyweights coming off three-point losses hope to avoid falling further behind in the conference race Saturday when the 10th-ranked Sooners visit the Horned Frogs.

The Sooners are averaging 8.9 yards per play – a mark that would break the FBS record they set last year (8.3) – and are led by Kyler Murray, who has posted a league-best 227.8 passer rating (second in the country) and ranks sixth in the conference with 377 rushing yards.

KaVontae Turpin moved into eighth place on the school’s all-time receptions list with 140 after posting six catches against Texas Tech; he needs eight more to move into sole possession of seventh place. Sophomore Jalen Reagor boasts a team-high 37 receptions.

As Oklahoma faces TCU this Saturday, their defense will look to rebound after an embarrassing performance against Texas in a 48-45 loss a couple weeks ago. Although Mike Stoops is now gone, the Oklahoma defense has a lot to prove going forward with interim DC Ruffin McNeill now calling the shots.

On the TCU side, the problem is much more offense than defense. QB Shawn Robinson has struggled to find rhythm for most of the season so far. Since hanging with Ohio State in the first half of their Week 3 matchup, TCU has been stagnant offensively. They will be looking to turn things around on that side of the ball Saturday. Luckily for Shawn Robinson, the Oklahoma defense has a bad habit for making opposing QB’s look like Heisman contenders. We will see if that happens again on Saturday at Amon G. Carter stadium.
